Yesterday was a blast. Honest. (: It all started last Saturday, when the motion was released for the NUS Policy Debate Series, "This House would make sexuality education a mandatory part of the school curriculum." Zi Han, Chubin and I pounced on the motion immediately, and managed to craft our entire argument in a few hours. We went home and did intensive research and re-editing of our scripts, and I preempted what the opposition might have to say, and all in all we were confident that we could, for once, break this thing. The coaches, Hui Yi and Chin, were the EXCO of the PDS series and thus could not help us at all on our case. Instead they spent all their time on the Junior Gabriel's team and crafted a case even I would have found hard to crack (We often teased the coaches for being betrayers and traitors to the TA PDS team but really, we understood :D). Then after we submitted our cases to the seniors (who helped us in place of the coaches) on Sunday, if I'm not wrong, we realised our case was off-point! D: Then we met up again, discussed our case again, and sent another case divide. It was off-point again (but for another reason :/) By then it was already Thursday and it was... two days to the competition. We were panicking so bad XD. Then Zi Han and I met with Andrea, but didn't really do anything much. We were supposed to have met with Claire but something happened on her side and couldn't come. So sad. So in the end on Friday's Debate training, we sat down with Jia Min and Trinda and seriously, seriously worked on the case. We kop-ed both the KI Room's whiteboards and just brainstormed until the whole whiteboard was filled and almost illegible. Then we had an impromptu debate (and I say impromptu cause we prepared our entire case in one hour instead of sparring with a week-old case) with some of the J2s. It was better, at least, now that we had a case XD. And it was extremely strong due to the fact that we were attending a Secondary level Policy Debate Series with a JC standard policy XD. And then after sparring, we ran for dinner and ran off for the Junior Gabriel's at Bedok South Secondary. Watched Nicholas, Si Hui and Felicia in action. Incredible case. I'd have panicked if I were against them XD "The motion reads: This House would open Facebook and other social networking sides only to individuals aged 16 and above." and they got off to an amazing start, with Nicholas's favorite style: the preamble. (He absolutely loves doing that! The first time he prepped his case and impromptu sparred the PDS team, before our own motion was released, he started off with "Mommy, Daddy, what's Facebook? Is it a book with a face on it? As a teenager I should have the right to know!" something along that line XD. Which seriously freaked the coaches out and made them promise to help him with his preamble. And many other times, debates would boil down to an argument over preambles. Like a truckload of pills vs one miracle pills, riding a bicycle from young, and even something about urbanized people being thrown into jungles and dying.) "Blindfolds and shackles, ladies and gentlemen, is what the proposition is proposing for our youth today, if the policy is to be implemented." and he said this with such conviction and omgosh it was epic XD. He started off his speech with so much conviction such to the fact that his voice sounded seriously strained. And then in the middle, maybe it was because he was tired, but he started to lose the energy, but later it picked up in the end. XD. He seriously cancelled out the First Prop's info just by his rebuttals, and later his case further thrashed it XD. Si Hui had that seriously calm and cool demeanor, like someone who was always quiet with the cool face but behind that mask of composure was looking for a chance where your back was turned to stick a knife in it XD. The was she presented her rebuttals was awesome. Seriously. She went up and thrashed the floor and completely rebuked everything they said. And then she moved on to her main substantives but there was no time omgosh so she had to completely scrap her third point ): Felicia was the happy one, with the sweet smile for everybody and the winning-you-over-by-a-mile smile. :D Hers was epic as well. Compared to the way she faked information in the U16s competition (which was honestly fail), "There has been research which proves that there has been absolutely no link between this and that, and this is true!" She faked information so convincingly (and it was also written on her card, so it looked as if she had done research before) that the proposition was put off. And the fact that she was third speaker and had to just rebut and rebut, it was good. She actually had a whole rebuttal list prepared in advance, which she then ticked off and transferred the information onto her cue cards and went on the floor. And all in all, Zi Han, Chubin and I sat in the audience, along with the seniors and coaches, mysteriously jabbing pen ends into our necks or into the palm of our hands, and giving the team death stares. AKA saying "POINT POINT POINT!!!!" (Point of Information. It is something you interrupt the other's speech with when you disagree with something they say. Anything at all, and you stand up in your seat and say "Point Ma'am / Sir" and if they accept it, you rebut their case. This is my favorite part of any debate.) Reply speech was epic. Nicholas took on a sarcastic tone, and completely suanned the other team. The ending was EPIC. Walao I hate them. "So, ladies and gentlemen, I have shown you today that the proposition is __________ and their case cannot stand. So I say we go without the blindfolds, go without the shackles, and go with the opposition." Walao I practically almost screamed with joy XD It was the best ending EVER that I had ever heard from so many other teams. It was incredible! (And the whole thing was quite funny; every time our team mentioned a good point, all the heads in one side of the room would go bobbing. It was like a chain reaction HAHA.) The Proposition was SCGS, quite a letdown. They barely offered any POIs and simply just read off a long script. It wasn't fair! They won! ): Just because their case was slightly more analyzed meant that they won! Not fair ): Anw, after a satisfying debate, we went home. I stayed up an hour more to write out all my rebuttals on cue cards before turning in. :/ The next day Zi Han and I met early (or rather, on time) at 6.30am at Pasir Ris. He brought a shoe-bag. I didn't. We had to wear court shoes. (At least, that was what our team decided and I forgot). XD So we walked home and walked back to fetch my shoes XD. Thanks Zi Han! Just as well we met early man. Chubin was late. But he met us just as we reached the station (for the 2nd time XD) Then we cabbed to NUS. It was so super big. It's like 4 TJs altogether! There are so many faculties man, we had no idea how to get to the place! We were supposed to go to the Faculty of Computing, but we were waaaaaay at the other end. Shuttle bus service within the school (yes within the school for the students themselves) hadn't started yet so we had to... take another cab through the school to get there :/ So in the end we did. the building looked quite like the TA block, but inside it was way bigger than it looked. We just koped a table for ourselves and watched as the people started arriving. Everyone had coaches except us (and we didn't even have a timekeeper! Cause of Go Green Day, everyone had to be in school except us. We didn't have supporters either :/) So we were up against St Hilda's. And yeah, we kinda owned them. Their rebuttals didn't make sense, and we were quick to pick up... Only thing that killed them was our policy, and the fact that their coach made them do definition challenges (for anything biased, to move it to their side, cause we can't re-define it for them.) And in the end, our definitions were the non-biased ones, they couldn't challenge anything and they died. XD And cause of the impressive policy we set up (that even impressed the adjudicator himself), we won the debate :D I kinda killed the team though, cause I wrote out everything on cards, and in the end spent too much time elaborating and overshot by 45 seconds. Never, ever again am I preparing for rebuttals. Anyway, we were the Group 2 Debaters, with the Sex Ed motion. Group one was "This house would legalise gay marriage." And I'm really, really glad I didn't get that XD So we passed the first round and moved on to the semi-final round, which had the motion "This House would devote more resources to making marriages work." We were up against Hwa Chong Institution. When we heard this, we were like ASLFKJASLKFJSAL!!!!! Cause we weren't exactly experienced, per se. )x We rushed to our room and rushed out a policy, and prepared the case. In the end we lost to Hwa Chong by a bit! So much less than what we were expecting :D Cause our policy-making skills saved our butts :D HAHA it was seriously epic. Anw, I didn't screw up this time because I made myself talk really, really slow, and wrote nothing on cue cards (except the two main points) and elaborated on the spot. I stared at the judge the whole time (which was not what we did the previous round, we learnt from our lesson.) C: But the fact that I only had two points of contention meant that I had to drag on and on. And the judge later told me that I was seriously repeating myself. :/ But at least I didn't go undertime, or overtime :D OMGOSH IT WAS THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER, missing the winning benchmark by a few marks XD Just because their third speaker had one more point of contention than me (and brought up new material in his speech, which wasn't what we were supposed to do, that's why i was repeating myself). Oh oh! I remember why I felt so uncomfortable as third speaker in this round of debates! It was because there were no POIs! Precisely. What my strategy is, is to listen and pay attention to when my opponent POIs our team. I'll write down what they said and what we said in response and then rebut every single POI they offered since the start of the debate XD. Plus the points of contention in the debate. That's why yesterday, when there were no POIs, I felt strangely... unoccupied XD. Cause usually I'll be scribbling down everything (I mean everything) they say :D But it was great, we improved at an exponential rate! (OMGOSH RHYMES) Zi Han wants to specialise in First Speaker. And I'm going to specialise in Third Speaker skills next time :D But it's going to be Third Opp to make me really happy XD. Cause whatever you say, nobody can rebutt you any more! :D Chubin I'm not sure, but what I'm sure of is we love our team as it is :D So yup, extremely glad for yesterday (: OH did I mention I took the bus home from NUS to Bedok. And I badly needed to pee on the bus. )x So I kinda... held it in for 45 minutes. And the bus stopped at the interchange beside another bus advertising for Guiness beer, with the little droplets of water in intricate patterns on the bus. It isn't something you wanna see. when you're urgent. :/ THAT IS ALL. :D OH NO THAT IS NOT ALL There still is A LOT of homework I didn't do. So the point is, I'm delayed. And I need to go now. I lift up my eyes to the hills - Where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip - He who watches over you will not slumber; Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you The LORD is your shade at your right hand; The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm - He will watch over your life; The LORD will watch over your coming and going Both now and forevermore. Psalm 121 I was really, really troubled today. 1. Debate. It's kinda hard prepping for a Policy Debate Series. It's even harder prepping for a upcoming PDS that's on Saturday. Especially if your case is out of point and it's two days to the competition. Today Zi Han and I met up with Andrea to prep the case. (Zi Han your cue card was in my wallet!! What in the world is it doing there!?) We... didn't cover alot. Just discovered that the new points for the case was... still out of point. DX But okay. At least we had some stuff covered. Better than nothing. :/ 2. Mrs Tag. And her irritating rant session on Monday. Since I wasn't feeling well, and I had the strong intuition to go home in case I left before Math B lesson. Who knew, Mrs Tag stormed in on that fateful lesson and completely just starting ranting. And ranting. And screaming her lungs out with impossible, unrelated logic links. :/ Apparently from a few classmates, she was completely unreasonable. And screamed for me, when i wasn't around, and then turned to scream at my groupmates. I mean, why choose only that day to do it? Was it on purpose, or was it only because my reflection to her for a week already? (Just FYI to all the clueless people, I was caught colouring my bio project (right in front of her :X) and she started ranting to the whole class. And then she confiscated the paper, and because my groupmates loved me alot, they went with me to collect the paper back. In the end she returned the paper, but demanded a reflection, which I didn't take seriously and never handed it in to her.) Sian, how leh? Guys it's late. I'm so upset ): I need my sleep! I'm feeling grouchy cause - There's still Kao3 Cha2 to revise for (basically it means CHINESE TEST TOMORROW). - There's still the subtitles to add in for the Chinese movie. Which is extremely timetaking. - There's still Math B notes to print out. - There's Mrs Tag's lesson tomorrow. - There's math test tomorrow. - I've been so sick I can't talk properly, let alone debate. What happens if I'm still sick on Saturday? We're doomed. - I spent an hour doing GComm reflections and stuff when I should have done it earlier. - I can't sleep now. ): - There's LA project to worry about. Sa's email was blank o__o I think it was some hotmail error... - I missed mass dance today cause there was debate. - I missed mass dance today cause I was sick. - Ms Cheah is going to slaughter us tomorrow cause of our crappy LA Presentation. - I might have to miss cell on Saturday. - I didn't go church last week. - I'm blogging instead of doing all these things. ): ): ): I should go. See ya! - we love because he first loved

Isaiah 30:20-21 Recovery is on its way! Germs unite and get the crap out of here!! )x HAHA. Crappiness at its max. Lol! Anw, went bloghopping and LOOKIT WHAT JASMINE WROTE. It made my heart ache. (: Made me realise how we take God for granted and yet he's always, always there! Like my PM on MSN, "When everything's crashing down, but God's hand is there to hold your head up, everything seems... duller, less important, when outshined by the love of God." What if God never made the Sun and there was no day or night Haha. I hope tomorrow will be fine. There's a lot of catching up I needa do, for goodness sake. ): School is mean for hiring such mean teachers who give us such mean homework and want us to submit them during such a mean period of timeeee. Shurei I'm so sick that thinking about how sick I am makes me feel more sick. BUT. I wrote a piece of fiction the other day. Decided to try finishing it between the coughing and spluttering at home :/ Haha. Mom's bringing me to the doctor later yay. ... Random. I'll edit this post after I'm done with the work. Haha. (: Cheers peeps. ---{EDIT Here is the piece of fiction. Lol. Don't ask xD. Anw, its a piece that leaped forth from... whatever's in my brain and took form in words. C: Heavily inspired by Simon R. Green. The Shurei In the kingdom called Ongata, a war was slowly unraveling itself. Its people turned, either to run or to face their swords against each other. And in the fury of the people and its enemies, the sound of rain thundering on the blood-soaked soil wasn’t enough to shut out the song and the cry of the ancient dragon race. The Shurei. A distance away from the chaos and the hurts and the anger, they stood in ranks, as free as the wind and yet bound to their human masters for eternity. They were thin, starved creatures, eyes as dull as unpolished emerald, and yet the deep understanding that shone from their eyes was enough to set a human man on edge. Rainwater trickled down their dull, unpolished scales as they stared unflinchingly at the city destroying itself from the inside out. The Shurei stood proudly, heads raised on arched necks, spines quivering with the impact of the raindrops. The Shurei were centuries of years old, though not as old as the art of which they sang. Continuously, rank by rank they sang, each a different melody from the next, causing a mirage of emotion and thoughts, changing the atmosphere of the air and challenging the very reality that their listeners lived in. Their alien song infuriated all who heard it, raising before their eyes the faces of the dead, rabid emotions raw and fierce in the thick of the fray, turned mother against her child with madness - and in it all, enjoyed it. Their song, incomprehensible and yet understood by all, in a plane not so different from reality, echoed on the dying wind and the maddening storm. It turned everyone mad, though much slower the troops with earmuffs worn over ear canals with plastic shoved deep inside. The troops stormed through the city, guns and swords in hand, cutting down everything that moved, on order of the Monarchy. It wasn’t that the kingdom called Ongata was the spawning place of the new rebel forces, or that it smuggled all sorts of illegal products past the security checkpoints on the mainland. Rather, because of the Monarchy’s need to display utter and complete power, each and every kingdom, starting with the weakest. It was clear who was winning, and even with the controlled song of the Shurei, the Monarchy’s forces were dwindling. The Shurei song was never meant to be unheard of. Even with all their audio inhibitors, in the occasional lull of fighting came silence, and accompanying silence, the chance to hear the cursed song. Some troops saw their comrades die and killed themselves - or screamed battlecries and warsongs, and chose to scream their voices hoarse only in a bid to go down fighting the enemy which was supposed to be on their side. And away from the death and destruction sang the Shurei, standing to attention behind the figure called Jeffrey. I stood beside him, little hands clutched to his cloak tail, knuckles white from fear and the understanding that I, like him, could understand what the Shurei sang. “To be free with the sun, in one with the moon, to be as knowing as the stars, to be as powerful as the wind. To be one, a part of each other,” they sang, their watery eyes not a reflection of what thoughts lurked beneath. “Though together we stand, never will we fall; centuries we endure, for time did not find all.” Jeffrey held up his hand. Abruptly the Shurei stopped singing, and all life whirling around the city froze, stiffened and died. His third finger was wrapped around a ring of bone, with a stone set in it, as dark as the depths of a valley. “Jeff?” I said, startled by my human voice after listening to the Shurei for so long. When he didn’t answer, I tugged at his coat. “Jeff, why are you doing this?” I didn’t hear a reply. Maybe it was that he didn’t answer, or he was talking too softly to hear - or maybe just because there were two huge battleships getting ready to land behind us, driving up fierce winds and dust motes. The Shurei did not turn until Jeffery did, his eyes dilating with shock and surprise, and the anger at being caught off guard. Jeffery raised his hand. The ring on his finger glowed starkly against the darkening sunset landscape, giving the Shurei a new light to their weary eyes. And I just stood there, behind Jeffery and behind the legendary beasts, fearful and as confused as a nightingale in a snowstorm. My heart was convulsing so hard I could barely breathe, the alarm of it all slowly driving me insane. My cousin opened his mouth, and from there burst forth a completely alien language, one that was never meant to be sung with human vocal cords. The skin on the sides of his mouth dried and tore, revealing the raw skin beneath. Blood flowed freely out of his parted lips, his yellowed teeth uneven and some as sharp as the fangs of unholy demons. And all at once the Shurei began singing their deadly song, facing the armoured troops that jumped off the battleships. Armed to the teeth with swords and completely automatic weapons, they charged headlong at the ranks of the Shurei. And just as if they were waiting for a signal which never came, half the Shurei parted ranks and swerved to the left and right. Mass slaughter began in the flanks of the troops. As sophisticated as they were - being the Monarchy’s best shock troops - they were no match at all for the winged legendary reptiles. The troops, alarmed and disoriented by the new threat of attacking - and no longer just singing - dragons, halted the forefront attack and slowed to meet the enemy on either flank. And all in all the Shurei never stopped singing. There was the great lashing out golden talons and horned heads, darting into the air and breathing black flames, barbed tails and scaly hides all around. Where bullets would kill a werewolf or lesser demon immediately and cleanly, the Shurei’s hide reflected the bullets and sent them ricocheting back into the packed troops ranks. The Shurei’s eyes never glowed such an incandescent green as that day; never in my life would the memory leave me. I had to tear my eyes away from the horrifying carnage, tune my ears off the heart-wrenching screams of the troops as they realized their imminent death, horded in on all sides by a race far superior and more beastly then themselves. Before me stood an old, fray Shurei, which inclined its head to me and took up my hand in its paw. Jeff turned to me and came over to stand beside the elder Shurei, hands clenched so tight till his knuckles were white. “Understand love,” said the elder Shurei, with a look in his eyes which was not entirely beastly. “Understand family, and lastly understand duty and honour.” “And after you do,” croaked the man with the tattered cloak, his yellowed teeth stained with blood, gritted hard in an effort to conceal his pain, “If you ever do, you will understand why I do this.” And with that before I could say anything I was up on the shoulders of the Elder Shurei screaming down crying out and cursing vehemently at the figure on the ground. My heart tore into two as another seven battleships landed behind the first two that came. I screamed and screamed until my vocal cords frayed, tore the skin off the sides of my mouth, and until the blood vessels in my gullet tore and bled. That way I said goodbye to the figure, waving slowly and standing before the ranks of the Shurei; and completely understanding what it meant to sacrifice life for honour, duty, family and love. Sigh. This weekend has been depressing ): I'm sick again!!!! It must be the air-con omgoodness ): The germs circulating and enjoying themselves in an enclosed room in cold currents .__. Rawr. It's a record man, sick twice in a row in January! Dx It's only january! :| This whole week has been downright tiring, plus mom didn't let me go out today ): Ytd had debate, from 9 till 3, Started feeling sad and moody at around 1 to 3... Left Raffles City (Yes, what is a poor little sick girl like me doing 12 MRT Stations away from my home? XD) halfway, went for piano, came back and started feeling woozy. :/ That, was when I knew I was sick. (OMGOSH so cliche.) So yeah, just stayed home all day after that, didn't even go out with family for dinner ): I WANT THE LIME JELLY FROM IKEA NO FAIR ): Anw, came home, did LA ppt, slept till today. .___. Doing LA Summary is a pain goodness. It's 5 pages of teeny tiny words, to be summarized in 60 words per page ): What crap! D: I have a whole long list of hw to be done by tmr, and really, I haven't event gotten my hands on the materials, let alone do them :X I have no HCL 4A and 4B textbook hahaha. Dunno how alr :/ I must go popular and buy -.- Waste money again! ): (Did I mention that the school wants us to buy two thick stacks of photocopied essays and mock tests that cost 10 bucks apiece, plus the whole set of vocab handbooks from Sec 1 to Sec 4?) I mean, crash course for 4 years' worth of chinese knowledge is bad enough. Being forced to pay money for it is the worst! ): (I'm in a self-piteous mood hahaha.) NVM moving on, I found another book (series?) to read XD. It's by Simon R. Green again, though it isn't as epic as the Deathstalker Series but it'll do till my reservation for the next book pulls through (: It's called The Man With The Golden Torc and it's about whopping demons' butts XD. (I am so predictable.) There was one bit which was so cute. Let me type it out to delay going back to the dratted LA Essay :D "Spell out the catch for me," I said. "Just so I can be sure I've got it right." HAHA England. (Y) I just googled some of Simon R. Green's famously famous book quotes, I rather like the "Things wouldn't go right even if you..." phrase. Options for ending that sentence are many and varied, including, but not limited to: "held a gun to their head." "bribed them." "seduced them." "talked circles around them." "held a sword to their throat." "drugged them." and "cut them up into little pieces and gave them away as pary favors." (That last one is Fin, who was already a rather unstable person to begin with, even before his crusade to bring down the Empire and piss on it's ashes, just because someone else got what he wanted.)" I do too (: Wheeee :D K I'm abit off now. Currently dying for the next book after Deathstalker Destiny asdf. This is the best series I've ever read. So... HOW IN THE NAME OF EPIC PHAIL DID TWILIGHT MAKE IT TO THE BIG SCREEN? Lol. See ya (: - we love because he first loved

Comprehension today felt like writing an essay omgosh! I miss writing essays :X Anw I think debate helped me alot :D Makes me less... retarded XD Speaking of debate, it has been the best debate I've spoken in for the whole of debate training :d Best ever. I think I rock XD. Haha. Me, Zi Han and Benjamin were one team, against Nicholas, Yu Fong and Si Hui. XD "This house believes that facebook and other social networking sites should only be permitted to individuals aged 16 and above." Since I'm a heavy facebook user and on the proposition, I was kind of at a loss cause I'm rebutting my foot XD. Hehee. But it was fun :D Being third speaker is the best really really really! :D You just need to track what people say and be nit-picky about it :B Anw, I should be studying geog now, honest. ): I'm falling sick again eeeeeeee. )x Cough. Eeee. K I'm tired, going to clean up my blog links and bloghop now. Debate training from 9am to 3pm tomorrow gah. At least its going to be fun! :D See ya XD. - we love because he first loved
